“The paintings in this exhibition of brand new work, explore my romance with the sea. It is a romance of paradox. As in a love affair it fluctuates between excitement, longing and fear. I have a love affair with the sea. But it too is filled with conflicting emotions. I love and I fear at the same moment. It can be so seductive, the lapping of warm colours and sparkling light, inviting shadows, filled with purple secrets, and reflections of green complexity.

But meet her on another day and she will show you her troubled soul of frothy angry creamy whites, her deep depths of mysterious black and her seductive jewel like catchments of green light. But there is another paradox in these new paintings – that of the search for a world between figuration and abstraction, and in so doing I swim from shore to shore.“ Joe Allen
